WATER METERS AND INVOICES
The Water Department has recently received a number of concerns from property owners regarding the quantity of water for which they received a bill. Please contact our office if you would like to have your invoice reviewed. The review will include verification of the existing water meter readings, replacement of the old water meter with a new meter and a review of historical water usage. Old water meters will receive a testing verification for accuracy. Upon completion of the review, each concerned homeowner will receive a written response outlining the results of the review.
Please note that while we have discovered some human recording errors for some accounts we have not found any water meters that are inoperative or reading high after being tested. Homeowners have the ability to check and record their own meter readings using the odometer style read out on the water meter located on the service to the property.
Please be aware that it is common for old style meters that have been in service for a long period of time to lose efficiency in reading water consumption. Essentially, they read lower amounts of water than actually consumed. If a new meter was recently installed at your property, the meter may be capturing actual water usage. If you have concerns with accuracy of your new meter, please feel free to contact our office to schedule an appointment to have your meter tested.
